When expanding a spectrum, the portion selected with the mouse is enlarged and replaces the original! Thus, if you want an expansion on the same plot as the full spectrum, first create a duplicate of the full spectrum (right click on the spectrum and select Duplicate). Then you can resize and/or move the duplicate to the desired position in the layout. To create the expansion using the mouse, click the Expand button (see item b in the figure on the previous page) and define the expansion area with the mouse while holding down the left mouse button.
