5 v4 b( M1 E) `+ B* ~ SpinWorks other function is the simulation and iterative analysis of$ |7 J- g9 }& p" s! | complex second order spectra including dynamic NMR problems and certain, L2 t% U8 a8 o! H" R% R3 X) L solid-state NMR problems, in a manner similar to our UNIX Xsim program. 9 F3 j2 E$ o7 eSpinWorks 2.4 is the forth release of SpinWorks version to contain 2D 7 h( |2 M2 q E/ rprocessing. Full support is included for Bruker (XwinNMR/UXNMR) and3 T7 k7 H% R" G% |- K( S& Q0 ] Varian (Unix VNMR) data formats.

While the program" E. O+ w0 X- s5 `* H. `0 {& @ is to the point where it should (I hope) be useful, there will, no3 { T, D3 y$ D% S' ^! Z# G doubt, be bugs and there are things that don't yet work. The aim of the5 s5 j! N0 w* o: ` program is to make a program easy enough for undergrads to process 0 w9 v( G/ M; O7 Umagnitude COSY spectra (for example) with a single mouse click, and yet& e* h) }9 o C still be flexible enough for research use. SpinWorks currently handles' I2 P+ w9 `' J8 w! H only one data set at a time. However, most new computers have6 E) _$ x2 ~. D) H5 K1 ^( T* M! M sufficient memory to run two or three copies of SpinWorks ; Z' U r! A6 osimultaneously. This can be very useful when examining the rows and 0 v! @% C# N) Z8 w1 @columns of a 2D data set.

' X3 _0 L. w, T: {9 W9 NSpinWorks requires a 486 or higher processor (Pentium recommended) & y! q. v. z; arunning Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Pro, or XP (NT 4.0, XP or4 j8 j: l# a" Q Win 2000 recommended).

$ G. V# Q3 c+ c. D Windows ME is probably O.K., but is untested. Installation currently$ p& n. X- d# S. ~ l: @ requires about 5 Mbytes of disk space exclusive of NMR data. 32 Mbytes2 X- C; e& a, i/ O" Z7 o0 K or more of RAM are recommended, depending on NMR data set and. ]( v3 t: n$ ?' [7 c simulation sizes. SVGA 800 x 600 or better display required (1024 x 768" l; G; V! O0 C$ E Z: e or better recommended).

! l! Z) V) Y0 [ For 2D processing a Pentium class processor with 64 Mbytes of memory is the practical minimum.

+ }$ ~9 g/ X& B3 f* V, V' k$ q For 2D you should also have your display set to at least 16 bit colour,- n+ N8 k8 O7 l; q otherwise the image and contour level colours will be strange. I have * e4 J {! C6 V# Areceived reports (but have not confirmed) that SpinWorks will run under ( a6 b1 _4 A; P; G9 p' \Linux with the WINE package and on a Mac with SoftWindows.

- j @3 K; q% [ A three-button mouse is ideal, but SpinWorks will work just fine with a) L: o6 C% v/ e two-button mouse. Note that on "Wheel Mice" the mouse wheel also serves2 @7 c7 n/ ]; q+ x1 X, ] as the middle mouse button. The mouse wheel can also be used for 4 M/ L7 Y& O! c3 y% Dvertical scaling of 1D spectra.
