' k' c( ]0 y- ~* e( ~ The first is to provide easy basic off-line processing of 1D NMR and 2D data on personal computers.

; @, h$ t- ?8 C) ~ h' K SpinWorks other function is the simulation and iterative analysis of ; a. \- a6 A/ z" u' g1 i pcomplex second order spectra including dynamic NMR problems and certain & i w0 I$ j' C- O3 e7 \5 \7 jsolid-state NMR problems, in a manner similar to our UNIX Xsim program. % u1 w$ G2 V' o1 F* W- \" M. nSpinWorks 2.4 is the forth release of SpinWorks version to contain 2D% v. l* a" M( `# ^ processing. Full support is included for Bruker (XwinNMR/UXNMR) and 4 k1 X. ^* X! gVarian (Unix VNMR) data formats.

L& w( Ximprovements and bug fixes in the 1D and simulation routines, and these7 ~+ Q4 t2 p4 |1 h9 R0 x should be at least as stable as those in version 1.3. While the program 9 P* O3 y# S$ P. ]is to the point where it should (I hope) be useful, there will, no8 |8 W6 }+ }4 L, n/ k8 Q1 S5 c doubt, be bugs and there are things that don't yet work. The aim of the$ L/ [ m) J- n; `4 f/ G program is to make a program easy enough for undergrads to process: w4 h r. Q/ I6 T4 P magnitude COSY spectra (for example) with a single mouse click, and yet k. o( s+ G. a3 i$ ^3 w still be flexible enough for research use. SpinWorks currently handles& ^+ u7 X- Q% j, a7 k only one data set at a time. However, most new computers have+ {- Q; [; Q2 q sufficient memory to run two or three copies of SpinWorks ! k/ E) f' o Z; `2 O7 Y$ k+ hsimultaneously. This can be very useful when examining the rows and$ M H5 ^$ o* `9 K1 f4 m columns of a 2D data set.

' z Y, z9 L" }" Q; P/ x8 eSpinWorks requires a 486 or higher processor (Pentium recommended). c1 Y6 \2 o! s( Y running Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Pro, or XP (NT 4.0, XP or & P4 Z, {! l2 k& D8 y6 IWin 2000 recommended).
! S5 L. V9 |( ?+ J- l0 c
3 n& ^2 s& i' [3 ^! jWindows ME is probably O.K., but is untested. Installation currently 1 T$ S d- Q% c; Y! r1 C6 T9 z2 Drequires about 5 Mbytes of disk space exclusive of NMR data. 32 Mbytes ( `! ]" L- n" ^" S' \or more of RAM are recommended, depending on NMR data set and5 f8 ^$ r" I! t2 N& g5 ]. ` simulation sizes. SVGA 800 x 600 or better display required (1024 x 768 2 `- N: d8 R! u1 u O$ D, U1 hor better recommended).

/ [ ? W+ U8 d9 U0 dFor 2D processing a Pentium class processor with 64 Mbytes of memory is the practical minimum.

5 ~/ `8 L6 q4 D, c$ GFor 2D you should also have your display set to at least 16 bit colour, - E, K; D9 P1 k5 V5 ~* Y/ Wotherwise the image and contour level colours will be strange. I have . V8 a+ I! _: r& o1 w6 o8 g9 sreceived reports (but have not confirmed) that SpinWorks will run under % J" n) y6 W5 _: e# q9 ? F( u" [8 `; yLinux with the WINE package and on a Mac with SoftWindows.

$ G I; Q) B" I6 ~- HA three-button mouse is ideal, but SpinWorks will work just fine with a" @) m: e; U( k* c6 M9 a8 l two-button mouse. Note that on "Wheel Mice" the mouse wheel also serves& K% v! p) M# ?) B5 u as the middle mouse button. The mouse wheel can also be used for , _& y5 S: {6 ?6 k6 H+ Gvertical scaling of 1D spectra.
